When you were ...Meredith's layout challenge

Take a look at this fab journaling and layout ...

June 11 DU - Dear Me image

From: Pip Prosser

The Australian Women's Weekly  has a feature each month about a celebrity reflecting on their life and giving advice to their 16 year old self ... take a look at Ita Buttrose and her thoughts ;-)

Looking forward to your roughly 16 year old photos (give or take a year or two) and your journaling!!

PS ...

You may decide to hide your journaling and that's okay!

Scrap this Quote challenge

I thought i would challenge something different this month instead of a sketch..............

"Scrap this Quote"...

I saw these words somewhere....don't ask me where...not sure if it was in a magazine, on a blog or just where, but i liked them immediately....so sent them to E2C's very clever graphic design artist Amanda and this is what she came up with...oh magic.....hope this inspires you like it does me!!!

So go use these words- either as part of your title or part of your journalling or just a quote on a fabulous page.....i can't wait to see what you come up with!!

June Challenges

Well i think this month your challenge cup may well runneth over!

Meredith, Sue and myself have had inspiration overload and there are some awesome challenges that will be posted up here on the ol' blog during the month of JUNE.

Amanda's Challenge.

this is in response to a trend that i have spotted popping up all over the place.

SAME ON SAME.

here are some examples i have stumbled upon lately. The layering of paper elements of the same colour as the background is evident in each one:

Keisha Campbell

or this one by Michelle Burry who uses journalling strips in the same kraft as the background…..

and finally this gorgeous layout in the latest Creating Keepsakes really made my eyes pop - by Davine Fiero (if you follow her blog link there she also has another example creating clouds and a scalloped border using the same technique)  Those big kraft on kraft scalloped circles is what i am on about here!! What an awesome and yet subtle accent!

So pull out your punches or scissors and get some same colour on colour happing. It doesn't need to be kraft or white card stock. Just same card or paper on top of each other.

And nope i am not meaning a simple monocromatic layout here….. pfffft any doofus can pull one of those together. I am thinking punches, fussy cutting, home made bits and bobs from paper layered on to the very same paper/card base.

Go forth, create and show us how you go!

Sandra - Tucked in

Hi Amanda!!
Well would you believe it??
I actually got around to doing an E2C challenge
I have been rather slack in that regard lately.
I loved the 'Tuck' challenge and when I saw it this layout came to mind....and it has been floating around there ever since! lol
This is a photo of my late father in law.
Love the angle of the photo...considering the era, the angle is pretty funky!

Cheers
Sandra

Wow wow wow Sandra. You know what i love the very most about this layout? It's that it is full and yet maintains a sense of space. LOVE all those yummy tucked ephemera, bits and bobs. You do vintage so well Sandra!! Also adore how you picked a white lined pp backing instead of kraft or another darker / aged colour - it really makes the whole layout striking and so very eye catching.

It's wonderful to see your work on the e2c blog again :) Thanks!

Marika - colour challenge + tucked elements

Hi Amanda,

Just sending you a picture of my layout yah i finally have done one.  Not quite bottle green but i liked that colour green better.

Thanks Marika

WOWSERs Marika this is amazing. Love the spots and all the white space. The blue and green just look stunning here!! Cute photo and beautiful brown eyes! Love this design so much!

Mid month challenge - Sue

I have very loosely followed Meredith's mid month challenge with this page...it was the basic principal that i began with....if you look closely you can see i started with the paper layout of Meredith design and then scrapped my photos etc on top of them all....... This is one of my fav photos of my friend in Berlin...i love the flukeiness of the sun flare that has come out in it.

Hope you having a great Monday...

Scrapbook Trends / Embellish give away

I have extra copies of the April edition of Scrapbook Trends and also of the latest Embellish magazine and thought i would give them away here on the ol' blog. These are completely new - un opened mags.

This is a commenting tag type of game - Hot or Not.

The idea is that i will start off stating something and someone will reply either 'hot' or 'not' and follow up with a question for the next person to comment and state wether that is hot or not.

You will need to read the last comment on this post to see what exactly you are reply hot or not to!

so it would go:

Amanda : Anchovies?

Jo Blogs : Hot.  Skinny Leg jeans?

Sammy Rose: Not.  5 Loaves vanilla slice?

Jackson Five : Hot. George Clooney?

etc etc.

It can be anything…. scrap related, food, fashion, colour. You name it.

The winner will be the person who has held the LAST comment for 12 hours. This may be quite an ongoing post / commenting relay if it goes along as it should.

ok so the start question is:

Leopard Print?

(now reply hot or not - the first person to comment will be in response to me -after that my question is void and goes to the next commenter's question in a relay)

***Edited to add - you can post more than once to keep yourself as the last poster!***

Colour challenge - Sue

This colour challenge inspired me to dig out these photos of the day i spent flying a kite with my 2 grandsons....and i just had to add a wee touch of red and yellow to the page. I was also inspired by Meredith to use my mini alpha stash for my journalling - thanks M.x

Meredith's middle of the month of May challenge ...

When I saw this post at Today's Nest ... Spiraling Out of Control: The Golden Spiral ...

I was really inspired !!

It's called Fibonacci and I think it has been used in patchwork so why not scrapbooking!!

So take a look and then maybe give the design a try!!

I think an A4 / 8 1/2 X 11 inch layout would work really well but even a 12 x 12 inch would be great too!!

Can't wait to try this myself and look forward to seeing your creations too!!

Sue - tucked elements challenge

I have used elements from the 'on holiday' range by the girls' paperie ... i bought them last year ready for some of my travel pages...haha!...plus i have added a ticket from the boat cruise (at the top) and a swiss flag sandwich pick that i happened to keep as well. This was quite a challenge for me, it took nearly all day for the page to come together....but i can tick that one off....now off to think about the colour challenge.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday xx

Zanny - card to share

Hi Sue,

Here are some photos of the card I made for A & A's wedding. I'm terrible at making cards as it takes me so dang long to create something that others would throw together in a minute. I was very happy with the result this time & enjoyed doing something a little bit different. The Tri-fold card idea is from "Australian Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft vol 16 NO.6"

Zan

Wow,wow and Wow Zanny....this is just great......love all the bits n bobs on it and the tri-fold is very effective & clever!! I love all of it as i am sure A & A would have too. Thanks for sharing it here with us, and sorry i haven't posted more of your photos but i had trouble down-sizing them .....(and i'm not as computer savvy as others!)
