Colour Challenge - Brigette
Oooooh Brigette!
How delicious is the yellow and grey here!?? And how clever to incorporate that honeycomb type of effect - apparently all the rage at CHA! Is that on the paper or is it a stamp? Whatever it is really fabulous. The flowers, the chip, the butterfly - and the subtitle - brilliance.

Thank you Kathryn.
As our ticker seems to be on fast forward counting down the days until April 27th and our next retreat I would like to mention, and thank someone who has been a MASSIVE help and inspiration over the past two years.
Kathryn came to us after the second retreat, with a proposal (yes all written and very formal!) that she would like to take over the main meal catering. Up until that point we had always walked to a nearby hotel for a meal and both years had been disappointed. We felt that we were trying to run the best retreat ever (dare i say IN THE WORLD?!!) and those meals at the pub were letting us down.
Val was already well in charge of her scrummy lunches and general purchasing of kitchen goodies and so we thought Kathryn would be an awesome addition to our team.
Kathryn had everything sorted right from the get go and convinced us to give her a go as caterer of main meals and supporting Val during lunches.
Far out was she good?!!! Not only did she blow our socks off at the main retreat, she then agreed to help us with the Scrapathons as well!!
Her menus were to die for and omg i am still having random mouth watering issues over that deluxe chicken, cous-cous and baby spinach salad concoction at the last scrapathon… hmmmmmm.
We can quite safely say that we never ever could have taken e2c to that next level of fab without her input and hard slog.
Sadly (but understandably) Kathryn has decided to step away from the kitchen side of things this year - yep she is still coming but in a scrapbook capacity only!
So i would like to take this opportunity to say a huge THANKS to Kathryn. You have always been a positive, quiet achiever who was as passionate about the retreat as we are. We have loved having you involved and hope that you enjoyed being a part of the e2c team.
Thank you really doesn't seem enough for what you have done for us!! We really hope you enjoy the e2c experience from another angle this year.
When Kathryn told us this news, we had a bit of a panic and thought 'who the HELL will fill her massive shoes?!' (figuratively not literally as i think she might be a quite normal size 7)
Luckily we have secured not one person, not two but THREE ladies who have stepped up to do the job.
These girls are not scrapbookers but by hell they know how to have a good time. They are also super organised and have menus and shopping lists all ready to go!
We know you are going to love having Mel, Kim and Leanne in the kitchen this year. They really are a bunch of wags!
Along with our 'Super Man Andrew' who is the most amazing help in every area of set up, general running of things and pack up of the retreat, i think we have a fantastic team behind us for April.
So thank you to Kathryn.
Welcome Mel, Kim and Leanne.
and thank goodness for Andrew and Val!

I cannot stress enough how good it is to know that all our meals and food business is taken care of. Meredith, Sue and myself did not have to worry one little bit about anything - Val and Kathryn had it all sorted like clockwork. To be free to concentrate on all the other aspects of retreat organisation with that one huge and vital area of catering totally taken care of was a gigantic worry and load off our minds |

Kathryn inspired by Nat
Hi Amanda
After three sessions of sitting and scrapping, I have finally completed a LO & challenge.
I’ve gone with Nat to lift. Sorry about the quality of the photo. I’ll take another tomorrow during day light hours, crap night time light, and email it to you.
Hope ya going well.
Kathryn
Wowee Kathryn that looks awesome!Love that glossy tree and that cute little bird! All the details look fantastic. The cluster of flowers with doily and sparkles reminds me of Nat's trademarks too!!
And of course a brilliant photo and memory to scrap!

more free fonts ...
Over at iheartnaptime
You will notice that
... the Cafe Rojo font is just like the Basic Grey alphas stickers and
... the Pharmacy font is like some Scenic Route alphas sticker around a few years ago and
... the Bambi font looks familiar too!! Can anyone place it?

Ali does Mardi
Hi Amanda, here is my take on the Jan challenge... I have chosen to scraplift Mardi, I will confess I have had a blog crush on her for ages and ages, and have adored her work whatever it is (scrap, sew, re-thrift) for a long time now. I probably will not be able to speak when I meet her in April!! LOL!!! Sad but true I'm afraid.
So here it is, a bit of a crap photo, the light isn't so good outside atm...
Thanks for the challenge, it felt really really nice to scrap this afty!
Ali x
Oh Ali this is perfect!! Love the hand cut scallops (i am so jealous of anyone who does them and actually makes them look great!), the little labels and the machine stitching. Those lovely pinky red tones are delicious and the dabs of yellow make the whole thing POP.
Great job mate!

Nat does Kate (in a non rude way)
Ok so I thought it would be pretty funny to scraplift myself but decided I'd look like a total idiot! :)
So I lifted Ms Mason!
I was inspired by her gorgeous collage background for this layout.
Absolutely loved creating this today!
Love Nat
Oh this is beautiful Nat!! The design and colours are unmistakably your style but LOVE that shabbylicious collage background. The splashes of red - YUM. Great work and i think its fantastic that your own scrap style still shines through!

January Challenge - scraplift our teachers!
In case you missed the news :
we have three amazing, well published, and clever South Australian scrapbookers who are excited to be joining us in April 2012 at our retreat… these girls are planning the most amazing creations to teach YOU in some inspirational classes!
The details on each individual class are out soon but just in case you missed the first announcement :
This month i thought we could pay homage to these amazing ladies by scrap lifting or gaining inspiration from one of their pages.
You may like to copy exactly, changing the photo and journalling to suit you - or perhaps take inspiration from colours or the layout of the design only. It's up to you how it grabs you!
Thanks to Kate, Mardi and Nat who have all agreed to have their work on show for us to get the mojo flowing. (I did the picking of the projects for this challenge and boy oh boy it was so damn hard to just choose one for us to drool over!)
First up the wonderfully talented Mardi Winen :
blog is here : the love supreme
and her fabulous layout to be inspired by is here (look at that delicious stitching, masking tape and ohmygosh who would have thought brown and floral could look so good together?!!)
and the incredibly amazing Kate Mason's blog: something for Kate
and the canvas to gain inspiration from (i think i might have squealed a little bit when i found this one - isn't it beautiful?!!)
and last but by no means least - the fabulous, clever and inspirational Nat May.
Blog: happydaks
and wowsers at the layout i have picked for you (the splats and the fussy cutting are just swoon-worthy. AND check out that handwriting!!)
Sorry i realise that i have seemed to pick florally or pink layouts - part of the challenge is to adapt them to suit you and your style… good luck and i can't wait to see what you create.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas #9
Last night i came home to find some festive snowflakes decorating one bedroom doorframe!
Had it snowed inside?
Were we in the midst of a blizzard?
Had Santa come early?
Was Jack Frost visiting?
Nope.
Georgia and Piper had made these out of normal A4 scraps. By tracing a CD to get a circle template, they then cut around it. Fold the circle into quarters and cut random shapes from the folded circle. Unfold and voila! A beautiful snowflake.
Georgia's tips -
1. To get more intricate designs you can fold it smaller than quarters.
2. Vary circle sizes for added effect. Use dinner plates or side plates to trace for guidance.
3. use very thin fishing line or mono poly clear thread to hang your snowflakes. You can barely see the thread and it really looks like they are hanging in space or snowing!

big title challenge - Judy
Hi Amanda,
I got all keen when i saw the new challenge of so what!! as I
have had these chipboard letters 4ever and never been able 2 use them as
they were sooo big-aha they were just the ideal thing 4 this layoutand this
photo was soo right 4 it.
I didn't have enough s's but as there are no rules
in scrapbooking ...I used the Z instead. I sanded right around the edge of
the red paper butit needed a border and the only thing I had was the
packaging from some protective sheets I got from k-mart and wall-a it was
the perfect colour as the letters hope u enjoy it.
Looks great Judy. Love the dymo (ive got a soft spot for it from way back!) and those chip letters are fabulous! Great photo and the layering + buttons is fabulous. Red, white and black are such a striking colour combo.
Thanks for joining in!
