And this one too, the sun just easing over the rise of the hill. I was hoping like hell the snakes had all gone off to bed....with me crouching down in amongst the long grasses getting these shots!

Sue- light photo challenge
And this one too, the sun just easing over the rise of the hill. I was hoping like hell the snakes had all gone off to bed....with me crouching down in amongst the long grasses getting these shots!
A layout or two - Sue
This one is a scrap-lift from the very latest Scrapbooks etc magazine, a layout done by Lydia Jackson. I loved the different tree on her page...to me it was perfect to go with this picture of Rob and our kids & little ones. Photo taken by Amanda H.
This page came together easily, it was my 'Amanda Hall' style inspired page. This original photo has been sitting on my desk for ages, it has been a fav. of mine for years. Don't you just love the fashion that we are all wearing, and the old cars in the background? It's not a great photo with the blackend edges...but just had to use it!!
Thanks for your inspiration Amanda...love your work!

Tiff - light photo
my light photo challenge response. I have a couple more up my sleeve that I need to work on first.
a bit of PS magic to create lots of mood. In case you didnt work out what it is, its a figure 8 wire twitch used to fasten two lengths of wire on a fenceline.
cheers
t
wow at your photoshopping Tiff. Looks like the sun is really belting in there!
ALERT
I now have all of our classes for the March 2010 in my hot little hands. Soon - very soon, the details of these classes, costs and registrations will be open to those who have booked to attend our E2C retreat.
Can i just say that the classes look AMAZING! I am gob smacked at what has been produced for you guys!!
Again this year, there is NO LIMIT to the classes - if you would like to do all of them you can - or if you would like to do none that is fine too. It is completely up to you how many you do.
There will not be a long time frame in which to book - probably only a week so get your thinking caps on as to how much time you want to spend in lesson and how much you want to spend on classes. All payments (class and retreat) to be paid in full by the 30th of Nov.
As i said, this is a teaser - all will be revealed soon with the details explained more in full then.
Again i will say that the classes look amazing and you will really kick yourself if you don't register!
Maryanne - light photo
Absolutely stunning Mary. These are breathtaking. What a great capture of those rays - wow.

Sandra - light photo challenge
I took my camera with me to work today and tried to photograph something with light flare behind it.... no luck!! I ended up with just a lot of shadows and that diffuse thing you mentioned was just not happening. Then I spotted this sign... and there you have it... my 'light' challenge!
Great shots Sandra!! Love your quirky-ness of the first and yes i can see a bit of sun flare in the second! Fantastic!
By the way i wasn't meaning for everyone to try out sunflare - they were just my examples that i had on hand. You can interpret the theme of 'light' any way you would like.
And for diffuse light you need a beautiful bright but overcast day - a bit too sunny today. The cloud cover is the key for diffuse light. Good on you for giving it a go!
Great job again Sandra - i can't wait to see how others translate this theme into their photos.

November sketch challenge
So have fun with my sketch, and see... scrapping doesn't have to cost the earth with products, just a few little bits and pieces.
Can't wait to see your pages.

November
Photography Challenge.
ok the theme this month is LIGHT. Interperate that how you will and snap away. Maybe you would like to experiment with light flare - which is a very big, 'in' thing at the moment. Perhap you might have another more quirky way of looking at light. Think out of the box.
This is one of my fav. shots from the wedding i helped at a few weeks ago using some diffuse backlighting from the sun. A truly magnificent day for photo taking! Or here is another fav. dreamy sort of shot of one of Marika's gorgeous kids. I love how angelic he looks here! (Marika i know you are laughing about now - honestly they were just kids being kids - don't stress!!)
Amanda's Challenge.
Banners. Yep those little triangular thingos that usually say 'go team' or strung above the fire place with letters to spell out CHRISTMAS written on each flag.
They are popping up on layouts all over the place. They are not overly big on my list of 'gorgeous embellishments' but i gave it a go and actually liked how it turned out on this layout! Push yourself, extend and try something new! (i didn't measure my triangles but did it all by roughly eyeballing and nipping with the scissors) You can fasten with string, staples, machine stitching.....the list of possibilities is endless!
Sue's Sketch
Stay tuned.
Meredith's Challenge
Stay tuned.
Colour Challenge.
Using kraft to celebrate our new colour combo for the March retreat i have teamed that with baby pink, black and white for a shabby chic look. I can't wait to see your creations with this yummy combo.
Tracey - scrapathon layouts
Howdy Amanda, hope you are having a great weekend. Attached are the layouts I did on the scrapathon. I am pretty please with all these considering my brain was elsewhere and I was rather sleep deprived before I even got there. They are scrapped reasonably straight but I photographed them on a lean, sorry about the flash dots. The grid layouts were working for me and they were the best way to scrap our Africa photos (thanks Kate M for the suggestions!!). I used African money on the safari layout for embellishments and I think it looks pretty good.
Just thought I would share a bit from that weekend and I would love to see other peoples work.
Cheers, Trace
Maryanne - twine (yarn)
Kitchen inspiration - Sandra
Wow Sandra ... that is so funny!! Great layout - love your splash back tiles and what groovy patterned paper - perfect for the theme!! And a yummy looking meal!!
Thank you for sending it in - sorry about the delay in posting it - I had a party to get to yesterday!!

Sandra - photo, twine and misc. challenges
The one of me could fit the mobile phone challenge... I took the photo myself with the phone... and I felt like a real idiot doing it too... lucky no one was around!
The crossword layout could fit the twine challenge. I am nearly finished another layout which has a bit of twine on it... will send that in when I finally get it finished.
And the other one fits no challenge AT ALL unless the challenge was to produce a layout which hurts your eyes! lol.. So much Green!! and yes Teagan loved it!This layout was a challenge to create as I personally am not a green lover... unless it grows in the garden!
Thanks to the rest of the girls on my table (and the one behind me!) for the encouragement!! I would love to see some of the other creations produced on the weekend... I saw some fantastic things being made as I snuck around the room, too fantastic not to share with the rest of us!!!
Cheers for now Sandra
Sandra - the first one is a very Louise Nelson type of LO - this is interesting ;-) and fantastic! I am certain she will be stoked by this! Brilliant work and really inspiring, open journalling.
The crossword one again uses some heart string tugging journalling - i read it on the retreat and struggled to hold it together. What a beautiful memory. You have scrapped that fantastically.
The green layout is very GREEN, but wow= what an imact. I love the colour green and you have used it so well here. A great design and i am certain that Teagan loved the end result. How could she not love such a brilliant page on her and her fav. colour...??!!
Thanks for sharing Sandra. As you said it would be great to see a bit more work that was produced on the weekend! I know there was a fair bit done by all! What a relaxing and creative weekend we had!

Tiff - twine
Today i found another challenge in my inbox!
Tiff worked on this at the scrapathon - but fiddled a little more on returning home and found it fit the twine challenge beautifully.
Great job Tiff. Love the journalling strips and the brads.
If there are any other pages out there that fit our themes - please send them in. I know i spied some twine layouts being produced on my table at the scrapathon ;-)

Amanda - kitchen inspiration and fav. drink
Well i might be a bit late but i am slowly plugging away at the challenges.
This is from last month - Meredith's kitchen inspiration challenge. I have sewn baking paper around the border of this layout and used cork - i wanted to use the back of a placemat but i had chucked them all out so had to plead help from Sue's stash!
Also a fav. drink - well it would be if i could drink it all the time i think. The hype is well deserved!
Mobile phone photo - Maryanne
"here's a picture of the snake we had in our yard on sunday. "
Eeewww is all I can say!!! I hate snakes - a good snake is a dead snake I say!
Hand cut title - Maryanne
Maryanne I'll definitely accept that - sounds very impressive!!!
Plus I love your layout - great colours, clever photo and a funky layout!
Hand cut title - Tiff
"I used Heidi Swapp ghost letters and adhered them on to October Afternoon Piggy Tales PP. Then I cut them out with my trusty craft knife (new blade really helped lol)
And viola, perfectly co coordinated title with the LO. "
Lovely Tiff - the cluster of flowers is beautiful and a great way to get a big alpha shape with a "template" by using the ghost letters!

Hand cut title - Sue
"At last i have scrapped again. I decided to use my letter stencils for my title....remember we used them for school projects etc??..... I bought a pack of various fonts when i first started scrapping and have hardly used them, so this was a great chance to get them out and blow the dust off them!!
Also the stitched paper border was a design inspired by a Mardi Winen page that i saw on Scrapboxx".
Really love your title Sue - really effective! The paper strips are a great use of scraps too - very clever! And I always love the look of stitching!

The colours are delish, especially that spotty background!
Thank you!

pass it along...
There will be some news on this retreat out soon and unless they are on our retreat email list OR check the blog at exactly the right time it is likely they will miss out.
We have heard whispers out and about that there are lots of new people interested in coming along and we would hate anyone missing out or thinking that they were not 'in the loop'.
The last two years have been fully booked out within hours...yep HOURS.
So make sure you are on the list, check your emails regularly and keep your eyes peeled on this blog.
More news soon..............................
PS. please keep creating and sending in your works! It seems very quiet on here of late!
