Here is my "Currents" layout.  We have had the power out for most of the day, so I thought I would scrap instead of all the housework I should be doing!  TFL

Karen i am not really sure where to start here. I just love your photo - you are one of the MOST photogenic people i know - stunning! Love love the white on white with just a smidge of pink around them. Love love love the title - how cool is that 'atm' = brilliant!  LOVE the fabric flower strip - omjeepers delish! Add that OA strip, one cute bee, some funky cut border and you have the most sigh worthy layout.

*sigh* Yes Mrs D you have done it again. Totally stunning. Totally up my alley, rocking my boat.

Challenges galore from Lou!!

Please find attached 3 LO's that I did for the pick a box challenges, and 1 for Sues Sketch challenge.

I can appreciate they may seem a bit of a 'loose' interpretation, LOL but I love this challenge and they have got my mojo happening!!! It had been MIA! LOL.

For Sues sketch Ive turned it,.... and for the box challenge [red + crown + decorative puch/scissors] I was also a little inspired by the LO Sue did last month for the Page 100 challenge.

Thank you so much Lou! I am sure that many others can take inspiration from your work.

Many of our styles are different but I think we can always be inspired to try something new when we are inspired by others! One example is your use of the tissue paper and paper dress making patterns as a base on your backgrounds.

I am inspired by your use of so many different items that can be utilised to embellish layouts!

And also how a little bit of an embellishment can be so effective - for example the dotty Hambly transparency in the second and third layouts (I hope that is what it is!!)

And I really love that flower punch - I think that is the one that Studio Calico had - I hadn't seen it used and now I am really liking it!!

I saw a LO last week in a friends magazine which inspired me with this page....it think it was the circles with the journalling in which got me started (i will have to find it to see how similar it is!)....and then finding a picture of me to use was difficult, and when changed to black & white gives a different effect!

See the key?? Remember making them at the e2c retreat with Mel?? I found mine and thought that it would fit with this page.

September sketch challenge.

Well here it is.....this month's sketch challenge!

But firstly i would like to Thank Nicole and Fran for stepping in and putting together a sketch for our blog while i was away......you girls really got every ones scrapping enthusiasm going....the blog was very active which is always good to see....and i would pop in and have a browse when i could, so Thanks girls.xx

It has been quite hard getting back into the swing of things, and even to scrap....so i have put this sketch together today....hope you have fun with it!

Feels soooo good to actually do an E2C challenge ...finally!!!

I have had this piece of music paper tucked away especially for this layout for ages..and when I saw the box with the music paper,
teal and colour pencils I just KNEW I had to scrap it!!

The colour pencils were used to colour in the rub on around the "Louise"

It was such a thrill to meet Lou irl at the last retreat in March and getting to know her a bit afterwards.... REALLY looking forward to catching up with her again in November!!!

LOVED this challenge Amanda...the criteria in each box is fun and very "Do-able"
but now I am "currently" thinking about the next challenge ;-)

Sandra this is just amazing! Very 'Lou' inspired which makes sense when she is the subject!!! LOVE the title (have never heard that saying before but it fits Lou to a T) Lovely use of sheet music, blue and coloured pencils! Also love how the red in the photo totally pops against the blue.

Amanda's Pick a Box Challenge.

Pick one box (only one - don't get overwhelmed here people) and complete all the requirements inside on the same layout. One box of requirements on one layout.

box 1

a crown + the colour red + the use of decorative scissors or a punch.

box 2

a birdcage + the colour yellow + a new font

box 3

sheet music + the colour teal + the use of colouring in pencils

box 4

paint/ink/glimmermist splats + the colour Kraft + clouds

You can do as many boxes and layouts as you like - providing it is ONE box per layout (it all gets too confusing otherwise!)

Here is my version of Fran's sketch. I've replaced the repeated embellies with the sheet music and the first half of my title :) ...and then forgot about the sketch (whoops!!) when I added the birdcage :)

Marika i love how just by using the brown cardstock, you have turned those OA papers and colours (which i always think of bright sun and summer) into a fab winter layout. Also loving seeing the sketch in the bigger 12x12 size....

Great series of photos that really tell the story about the kids. They make me feel cold just by looking at them!

That die-cut punch from SU is a fav. of mine too - just so cute!

Here is my answer to the colour challenge. I was not quite happy with the stamped lettering on this one....didn't quite look like what i was envisaging...but oh well!

I am loving how all the colour challenges are looking sooooo different. 'tis great to see everyones work!

Wow Tiff. I have always thought that photo of Sean is amazing. His eyes look stunning and so crisp. Definitely one to be proud of!

The autumn colours in your cluster are lovely as is the touches of blue and the string is perfect.

I was going to delete these photos but thought that maybe i should use them instead. A quest for less perfection lol.

Journalling says: I should have realized that getting a 'nice' photo of us together at 4am after a night out was too much to hope for!

Ali ... simplistic = totally unreal in my book! 

The little stapled loops of baker's twine, the splats and the delicious kraft look amazing together. Fabulous butterflies too - the whole page looks just so awesome.

Fran's sketch certainly has produced some fabbo pages! What an inspiration!

WOW Michelle those flowers on the ?raffia? really pack a punch... love how the little birds, leaves and butterflies appear to be perching/growing out of them. Excellent work. The photo is awesome too - i spy a 'thirds' effect there!!

Also anyone who journals by hand has my instant admiration. Great job!!

When i spotted Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's LO in the July/ August Creating Keepsakes, i instantly thought of the graffiti art i saw around Berlin.....and together with Fran's sketch....i was inspired to do a layout of Berlin Graffiti Art.

'tis something different for me, but it reminds me of all that graffiti....and you can sort of see Fran's sketch amongst it!

Well, at last i have scrapped!!

I have attemped Meredith's page 100 challenge. I found this inspiration from the real living magazine, August 2010.. ( i actually had to buy a magazine as i had nothing but scrapping ones left in the house!...i had a big chuck out before i left for OS)

What i was inspired on this page was the many different sized black framed photos....and i loved the font along the bottom.


And i thought it would be a perfect way to quickly scrap some photos from our day in Paris.

Now, to see if i can attempt another challenge!

Oh wow Marika. Brilliant colours - they work so well on boy pages! That orange is just striking! This goes to show that you don't need heaps of embellishments for it to be a repeated theme... those three circles are brilliant!

Really like that little button on the orange star too.... just add a little extra KAPOW.

I feel like I am repeating my self but ... WOW!!

The white ? brads for the repetition (they actually look like Mentos to me ;-)), the title and the strip of chipboard (I think) looks wonderful! And I really like how you have "poked" the butterfly at the top!

Amanda - page 100 challenge

wow this one was a fantastic challenge Meredith. Very very different and got you thinking! I liked it very much :)

My page 100 was from and old O magazine (Oprah's) which i found heaps of scrapping inspiration from in the past simply by the layout of the beautiful adverts and features.

on opening it to page 100 though......... blergh. Lots of text and one tiny, teeny drawing.

BUT WAIT! I had been toying with the idea of turning a photo of myself into a cartoon for a while so this was the perfect layout to do it on. It turned out to be a VERY long process in photoshop because i didn't like any of the action type of cartoonizers..... so this is the end result.

and it has a lot of dimension - which is unusual for me...

I found the repetition thing hard (it doesn't take much to confuse me!!)  

This layout also has no pink on it which is highly unusual for me, I'm not really a red kind of girl.

Colour challenge - Lou

Wow Lou - beautiful photo, love the embellishment clusters and the brads (I must try that as I have heaps of brads!).

Oh and maybe a sprinkle of mist or paint? Really love the butterflies too. And what a groovy paper to use as the background - gorgeous!
