80's- Guess who?

Taken in 1983- no great fashion statements here, just a fine, flouncy, frilly frock..(now try saying that quickly 5 times!).....some of you might recognise some-one or two in this photo.....

Ali's gone all etsy + Sue's sketch!

Hi Amanda,
I tried to combine the two challenges... Loved using all the etsy yummie bits and pieces, tipped my bag out on the table and away I went. I will definately be going to those shops!! And also glad to see that there will be a 2011 retreat by the looks of the top right corner of the blog!! Can I just say... YIPPEE!!!

Ali xx

This is stunning Ali. What a thrill seeing all your bits here on the page! Absolutely adore the vintage feel this page has, but at the same time is so funky and fresh.

Oh i just noticed you used the little sticker tags as well! Amazing - everything looks incredible together!

'80s Guess Who?

This lovely lady was VERY pregnant when this shot was taken. The type of top that she has on looks so very 80s to me!

What a brilliant smile. She looks so happy! Must have been all that young love!

Even though it is a classic 80s photo, the beautiful smile and that lovely belly makes this photo extra special!

Marika - Sue's sketch

Marika always amazes me with how quickly and brilliantly she gets inspired by Sue's sketches. They are a great starting off point and motivator!

The blues and greens against the lined paper is beautiful here Marika.

Very cute photos too! Love how you have done a 'series' with the door. Lovely.

'80s Guess Who?

LOL i think this one is super easy!

She says that it was way back in 1988 and she can't rememeber the occasion for such a flash outfit. She says that she quite likes the photo apart from the massive hair bow!

Big hair and big bows were very 80s so it is a great, appropriate photo!

Classic!

80s challenge

ok there are a LOT of things wrong with this photo.

Cumberbuns + big silk sash + drop waist + horizontal lines + big ear rings + massive hair flick + salmon colour on a male + huge clown collar =

Shocker.

Sue's sketch ... Meredith

Journalling says ...
"this is the sequence of events
you start by trying to ignore me
the you realise it isn't working
then you finish off with the very cheeky look"

Kerryn - gone all etsy

Hey Amanda

Hows it going?

I always keep an eye on the E2C blog but don't really get to do any of the challenges. But I do love seeing what everyone else does with the challenges set.

Anyway, I saw the challenge about using stuff from the retreat goody bags. I've actually used quite a fair bit so far from it. I've used a couple of tags, journal spots and I'm sure there was something else as well.

I completed this layout on the weekend (for a colour challenge site) using the bag that some of the bits were packaged in so I thought I'd send it through. (oh and just in case you are wondering about the title, my DS calls Lego Le Go, like it's 2 words LOL. He is very insistent that he is correct).

I loved everything that was in the goody bag and know I'll be using all of it at some stage.

Thanks and have a great week :).
Kerryn x

Fantastic Kerryn! A great example of our goodies being put to use = in a stunning way! Those bags were 'found' by Sue on blue bazzaar and we instantly fell in love with them - they were where the whole idea of going 'vintage etsy' stemmed from!

The orange looks amazing with the browns of the bag, string and other kraft elements. Incredible stuff!

Thanks for sharing and i hope you continue to drop by!

Tiff's sketch

Hi Sue.

The LO ended up a little bit different from your sketch of Maryanne's LO. I shifted the photos over to the right and added extra embellishing (the watch) in the top right corner. But the bones of the sketch is there.

Thanks for the challenge and happy tripping OS. take plenty of pics with that lovely camera wont you.

Nice LO Tiff, love the colours and the apron lace punch edges.

flip album revolution!

I have noticed of late A LOT of buzz about those little flip albums that Meredith made at the retreat in her class. They seem to be popping up in blogs and displayed everywhere in the shops.

Meredith really has started a mini-craze with those cool little things! I was told by one store that they were having a hard time keeping up with KRAFT cardstock these days all thanks to Meredith's class!!

Marika sent in some examples of what she has done.

beautiful work Marika. Stunning. thanks for showing us! And thanks also to Meredith who is an inspirational teacher and clever chickie for finding such a natty little project!

'80s Guess Who?

For this '80s challenge i would like to post the pictures 'anonymously'.

Any lurkers can then 'guess' who the star in the photo is by commenting!

So first cab off the rank is this lovely lady in stripes! She loved the big earrings and loud pants of the 80s!  This photo was taken in Amsterdam in 1988 as a tourist promotion where they took a photo of you embarking and when you disembarked you had a postcard with your photo on it.

Great first example of our '80s style!

May challenges.

Sue's sketch.

This month's sketch is inspired by a page and a sketch from the latest Scrapbooking Memories magazine and one of our very own local scrappers Maryanne. And thanks to Maryanne for allowing me to use your page as our sketch inspiration. So everyone who hasn't seen her beautiful page...you will find it in the latest mag.

I have drawn it up as a 12x12 but of course you can use the sketch to whatever size page you would like....and it is a multiple photo page again. Look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Here is my example:

Photo Challenge.

go through your photo archives and find the best photo you have demonstrating 'your style' in the '80s. We want to see big hair, ra ra skirts, large hoopy ear rings, socks on the outside of jeans, mullets.... etc. The 80 est the better!

Some very funny examples to come!

Amanda's Challenge

I would like to see some layouts that have been produced USING some of your etsy goodies from the retreat bags! We want to see some of those birdie tickets, crochet flowers, specially made hat pins ... and bonus points for the dress making pattern being used on a page!

If we packed it in your bag we want to see it on YOUR page!

being organized

Someone told me today that she enjoyed reading all the little titbits and links that Meredith and I put on this blog.

I said "what ??!! I never do it, Meredith does a fabbo job letting us know of the trends, what's hot, new releases, techniques and general scrap news"

(and we do love seeing what is out there i might add!)

So to totally prove myself wrong i have found something amazing. Something that i am the anti of... the complete opposite.

So grab a coffee and drool over how organized this space is!

general post about organization with amazing pantry and linen cupboard photos!

scrap room envy

of course this is from write.click.scrapbook. a great place for inspiration and this superwoman is Australia's very own Jody Dent Pruks.

In other things overheard..... another someone told me that they were looking forward to May when our challenges start again. I hope you are too!

affirmations

This was written by Ali Edwards for the 'i am enough' blog. It is quite an inspiring read and the place to go if you are wanting affirmation about yourself and your worth.

I do find Ali quite inspiring also. Even though her blog is very product driven and comercial now, her style never fails to make me want to grab for my stash and start scrapping. I love the way every single page she creates has a story about her or her children's lives. Not just the 'gorgeous' or 'i adore you' type pages that we all did when we first started scrapping but REAL journalling about REAL events.

I know journalling frightens some scrappers, and it isn't everyone's cup of tea i admit. Recently i read something that Leanne Stamatellos wrote for a recent magazine and i was totally nodding along with it. I felt that i could have written it word for word! Check out the latest Scrapbooking Memories for her amazing article.

What story are you telling in your scrapping?!

***

I guess a few people may be wondering what is happening with this blog - it seems awfully quiet lately! I wont speak for the other girls (Sue and Meredith) but personally i have needed some time away from the blog - with all the hustle and bustle of the retreat and in that lovely peacefulness afterwards it seemed like the right time to 'take a break'.

I hope everyone understands...

The desire to blog and post challenges again is starting to come back for me so i am sure things will be firing up again soon.

Remember that we get enthused to post when we know that we have visitors. Please say hello if you stop by.

more e2c group photos

I had a really hard time trying to find the 'right' photo to send out to the group... there were always one or two with eyes closed or funny expressions! I guess it is hard to co-ordinate eyelids with 65 women!

So here are some of the group shots for you to look and laugh at. If you click on the images you can view them much bigger.

sensible shot

and a silly shot. This one made me laugh with Michelles expression behind Tiff's head! Priceless!

another sensible one...

and then the sneeze! Dee this was so well timed!

finally another silly shot!

and just to show that i can show stupid / horrible photos of myself too...

This expression is exactly how i felt on the inside Friday morning - sky high with stress and anticipation!! Lucky i have two calming influences by my side!

Anyway i hope you get a giggle out of these. I sure did :)
