Michelle - photo challenge

Hi Amanda

Here are my entries in this month's photo challenge

Duran Duran
My favourite band besides ABBA who are an equal first. Just loved Jon Taylor so much I had huge posters on my wall of him and had all their records.

ABBA
As mentioned above, very close, I could actually say equal first, in fav's. My mum even has a tape recording of my sister's and I singing ABBA songs when I was around 6 years old. Still love them today.

Dukes of Hazzard
Who didn't love them? Crazy and funny show but still a goody to me. John Schneider (Bo) was my fav but very close to Tom (Luke).

Countdown
This was a treasure of a program to watch when it was on. Always caught up with the latest band and or video release during the time.

Books - the same as Sandra - Trixie Belden - so I won't repeat here.

Dolly Magazine
Especially when I hit the teenage years. This became the bible of how to look in the teenage years - Vain, shallow - yep, but then again I just joined in with many other teenage girls then.

The list can go on - Who's the Boss, 902010, Love Boat.......

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Michelle

Great job Michelle! I can definately identify with the Dolly magazine and Countdown but wasn't really into the others much. Thanks for sending them in and giving us a look into your past! It seems we are all pretty much thinking / brainstorming along the same lines!

Karen - photo challenge

Hi Amanda,
As I was doing this challenge I thought "Gee it looks like all I did was watch TV!" I did read alot, I was going to put Trixie Belden up there but thought I'd stick a few different ones in.

1. I loved Dr. Who, sorry if its a bit nerdy!! Never liked the new stuff, has to be the original!

2. I loved "The Wombles", this may be where my love of stop animation comes from.

3. The Goodies rule!! these guys were SO clever, I have bought a few DVD packs and my kids now watch them and roar with laughter!!

4. Weren't Smurfs so cute, we used to take them to school and all play with them in the playground making houses for them, this photo is of my Smurfs that I had WAY back, some a bit worse for wear, but I still have them!

Im loving seeing what everyone else is posting, such a fun trip down memory lane!!!
Cheers
Karen D

Fab Karen! Love your smurf photo!! Brilliant! And omg i was the biggest Goodies fan too. They still make me laugh!
As for stop motion - if anyone is wondering what that is check out what Clair Bremner made (yes that very clever girl has done this as well)
Basically it is taking a whole heap of photos and stringing them together to make an animated video. The amount of photos is often in the high hundreds just to make a 3 minute movie.
very clever stuff.
Thanks for sharing Karen!

August sketch challenge

Fianlly finally i am sitting down and scrapping.....

.... here is my sketch challenge for this month. It is optional to use one or two photos, i love to use a couple photos on my pages to help capture the story or moment, but as i said it is optional.
Hopefully i will see some buttons or brads, and some ribbon

Here is my example:

Hope you all have fun with it and i look forward to seeing your layouts!!

Well done Marika - yeah we loved Roxette in this house too, still gets us all into song. And Rachel loved the Baby Sitters books too.....now i am showing my age!! eeek

Marika's- pinwheel challenge

Marika is quick off the mark, she says:

5. Charlies Angels. This show was one of my favourites...still remain in awe at how they could run in those heels....

August photo challenge ... Maryanne

Maryanne said ...

Quite funny actually as only a week or so ago the kids were watching some of their childhood shows on youtube and talking about shows and toys they loved when they were little, and asking what we had watched when we were kids.

1. KISS.
having a brother 5 years older than me, both my little sister and I listened to his music. This was one of his favourite bands, and we all just thought they were sooo cool. With songs like "I wanna rock and roll all night" I Still love them, in an old nostalgic way!

2.The smurfs
How adorable were these little guys.LOVED watching them.
3.Barbie
Oh I was a barbie girl through and through! had the house, the car, several dolls, huge amount of clothing and accesories, and the SHOES,lots and lots of barbie shoes.A new outfit for my barbies was a MAJOR treat!

4.Enid blyton books.
These were when my real love affair with reading began.Any money I saved was immediately spent on a new one.How I loved these.
While most of friends were off playing I would be glued to my book, and would have trouble putting it down.

5.Archie comics.
My mum recently gave jaxen an old comic book, and he has actually been reading it [he dislikes reading], so it reminded me of how much I used to enjoy "archie"comic books.Again these were something I used to spend my hard saved money on.

6.Not too many TV shows I remember really loving, as think I was reading most of the time, but I did actually really like "monkey" on abc.

Wow Maryanne that was a blast from the past!! I remember all those very clearly!! And most of them featured in my childhood, except probably KISS!!

Thanks for being so quick off the mark with this challenge!

Aloha August

Hello yes it must be the first of the month again! Fancy us already being into the 8th month of the year! Hard to believe that Xmas is a hop step and jump away AGAIN!

without any further ramble, let's get into this months challenges:

Amanda's Challenge.

This month i would like you to either handwrite, journal or place your title ON your photo. Yes directly on the photo.

The best way to do this is to pick a photo where there is a lot of space on one side of the photo - ie. your subject is off centre and nothing much is on the opposite side.

You may like to handwrite on the photo. In my mind there is NO better example of a scrapper who does this handwriting on a photo as Clair Bremner. They always look so damn cool.

layouts by Clair Bremner.

do it via computer like this:

or do journalling strips.(another awesome page by Clair Bremner)

or you might like to pop your whole title on the photo. Here is another fav. scrapper of mine - Fran Tynan.

note: the title is OVER the photo.

Here is another example by Clair Bremner - this is either stamps or rubons for her title on the photo.......... (i told you that she totally rocks at this)

email your finished creations to me to pop onto the blog.

Sue's Sketch.

Stay tuned for Sue's sketch. Coming to you Monday-ish.

Meredith's challenge.

PINWHEELS!!!

Not too long ago Meredith did an awesome page but i cannot show you as it has this sign on it:

what a clever chook she is.................luckily for us she has done another since:

go here for a tutorial on how to make these awesome, hip, and in embellishments. Pop one or two on your layout and email the finished page to Meredith for display on the blog.
or there is another tutorial here which is a step by step with photos and examples of layouts.

Photo Challenge.

Try to think back - we might be talking a young kid or a teenager here. Who or what did you think totally ROCKED. Did you have an idol? Someone that you collected bits of trivia on, or maybe even sticky taped to your wall?

Now this photo challenge is not tricky at all. No need to even get the camera out of the bag.

go to google images and see if you can find an image of your idol. Right click and 'email picture' to me. Then tell us WHY you thought this person/band/group/TV show was awesome. Soooooo easy!

It might have been these guys:

or this one:
or these:
or maybe these people?

or who remembers this guy? Maybe you were his number one fan?

ah ok. No wait. I have found the number one ALF fan.........

jeez lousie what a *ahem* stunning tatt :-

.......anyway back to the challenge....

If you don't want to do it on yourself = tell us why Dora / Thomas / Postman Pat / *insert name* is so important in your childs life.

Email the image and your reason for being a fan to me for display on the blog.

don't forget our colour challenge is still on the go from last month also.

We can't wait to see what you create this month!

Marika - colour challenge

wow! How cool does this colour combo look??!!! I am so impressed by this Marika - the green stitching looks awesome! The yellow letters just pop right off that dotty paper and the photo looks like it was taken especially for the challenge - totally fabulous.
